IT law is something that doesn't really exist. Unlike most other areas of law, specialized laws such as DORA , Data Act , AI-Act , TDDDG , etc., which deal exclusively with information technology law, have only existed for a relatively short time.

Accordingly, the good old German Civil Code (BGB) is just as much a part of IT law as the German Commercial Code (HGB), the German Copyright Act (UrhG), the German Copyright Act (KUG), the German Trademark Act (Markengesetz), the German Unfair Competition Act (UWG), the German Patent Act (PatentG), the German Criminal Code (StGB), the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), the German Fiscal Code (AO), etc. All of these laws are also, or even primarily, relevant to other areas of law.
